PLOT IN THE TRANSLATOR

Let’s talk about the PLOT of ‘The Translator’. But first, have a look at the diagram below to understand the basic plot structure of a story which consists of the 5 elements below based on the Freytag Pyramid


PLOT STRUCTURE

The story is told through the perspective of Rosli as the central character and the supporting characters help move forward the events in the story and track Rosli’s character development.The story is purely fictional but the name of the village can be based on a rural village named Kg. Mangkok located in Setiu, Terengganu which is a fishing village.It employs a direct narration, the story is told in a straightforward manner with hints of foreshadowing at the beginning of the story: Rosli’s childhood & tendency to daydream indicating that he has a wild imagination and is prone to succumb to his fantasies since young.

ACTIVITY:

Create a plot diagram and mention the events that occur from the begiining to the end of the story starting with the EXPOSITION followed by RISING ACTION (conflict), CLIMAX, FALLING ACTION & RESOLUTION.
